According to whptv.com, police in Middletown are looking for the public’s assistance in apprehending a man wanted for the attempted abduction of a teenage girl in the Borough’s west side.

Police Chief Dave Sweitzer says police have been fielding tips from residents who think they know the suspect. But nothing positive was received.

At about 7:30 Thursday morning, on Wilson Street near Lawrence Street, police say a tall, slender black male in his 20’s approached a teenage female, asked her if she remembered him and then grabbed her by the arm and started pulling her away.

She was able to escape and call for help. The suspect fled on foot.

The chief said three weeks ago another abduction was foiled on the east side of Middletown. He is uncertain if the two are related, but did say both cases are priorities.

From Middletwon Borough Police:

This department is investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred this morning at 7:30 AM on Wilson Street near Lawrence Street.

The suspect approached a teenage female and asked her if she remembered him, then grabbed her by the arm and started pulling her away. She was able to escape and call for help. The suspect fled the area on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20’s about 6 feet tall and slender build. He was wearing a tan jacket and black baseball style hat. He has a distinctive scar on his face by his left eye.

Anyone having information about this case is urged to contact Middletown Police Department at 948-3000
